If you use the Symbol Builder to create your footprints, or simply to add attributes to existing footprints, the Symbol Builder uses an attribute template as well, but it is a different one. This allows you to control the position and visibility state of the attributes.
It will insert the attribute template block at the insertion point of the 'dumb' footprint block, thus making it 'smart'.īearing in mind that this is a stop-gap method, you should consider adding your desired attributes to the footprints permanently. So, as a stop-gap measure AutoCAD Electrical will push in or merge in the attributes by inserting the attribute template block into the 'dumb' block as a block of attributes, as the footprint is inserted from the Schematic List.
But since they do not contain AutoCAD Electrical compatible attributes AutoCAD Electrical must add them on the fly as they are inserted from the Schematic List. Of course there are plenty of people who just use the stock footprints that Autodesk passes along to us from the various vendors as-is. The 'push-in' attributes are simply there as a temporary solution until you add attributes to the footprints. The software manages these and they must not be renamed. The attribute template you are referring to is used by the software as a stop-gap measure to push attributes into an otherwise 'dumb' block.
